Hey ChinMounts, You Still Want to Copy My Homework? Let Me Make It Easy for You

On The Record

Here's the Whole Playbook, ChinMounts. You'll Copy It Anyway.

June 5, 2026

A year ago I told the full story of how ChinMounts came to exist: the free product, the "promotion" pitch, the sales data I naively talked about in good faith, and the knockoff business that appeared shortly after.

I figured that was the end of it. A history lesson. Something to point to when people ask why there's "beef."

Turns out it was just the prologue.

Two Months Later, Right On Schedule

About two months ago, I launched a new camera compatibility flow on MotoRadds product pages, a clean, guided way for riders to find exactly the right setup for their specific camera and helmet, instead of guessing. I thought it was a very creative and helpful way to give people compatible add-ons they could actually use instead of just a hastily thrown together bag of plastic extension joints. It took real work. Real thought about what riders want. Real testing to get the experience right.

This past week, I watched ChinMounts roll out something that looks awfully familiar.

Side-by-side comparison: the MotoRadds camera selection flow launched April 2026 next to the near-identical ChinMounts version launched June 2026.
Left: my camera selection flow, launched April 2026. Right: the ChinMounts version, launched June 2026.

I'm not going to pretend to be surprised. At this point it would be more surprising if he didn't copy it. That's the pattern, and it's been the pattern since 2017: I build something, it works, and a near-identical version shows up from the competing brand a couple of months later.

Here's the part I think people miss, though.

Copying isn't a strategy. It's a symptom.

It tells you the other guy doesn't have a roadmap of his own. He's waiting to see what mine looks like so he can trace it. And a business that runs entirely on tracing paper has a fatal flaw: it can never get in front. It can only ever follow.

From Chin Mounts to ALL Mounts

So let me make following easy for him this time. Consider this a public, dated record of where MotoRadds actually is, and where it's going.

I didn't stop at chin mounts, my first and main product. I didn't even stop at flexible mounts. Over the last stretch I've turned MotoRadds into a full mounting system for riders:

  • MotoRadds Original helmet chin mount
The OriginalThe plastic, adjustable chin mount that started it all.
  • MotoRadds FLEX Slim flexible chin mount
FLEX Slim & FLEX ClassicMy most innovative, original, patented invention. Nobody was doing flexible silicone mounts before me.
  • MotoRadds EdgeLock windscreen clamp mount
EdgeLock windscreen clampFor riders who want the shot from the bike, not the helmet.
  • MotoRadds Hyper-Stable Dual-Point selfie stick mount
Hyper-Stable Dual-Point selfie-stick mountDual-point mounting for ultimate stability, locking joints so it doesn't retract while riding, and a specially designed mounting pad so vibration doesn't loosen the threading on your camera.
  • MotoRadds X-Pand metal mount
X-Pand MountAn innovative design that slides into any hollow core on your motorcycle, built almost fully out of metal for extreme durability.
  • MotoRadds In-Helmet Mount for DJI Osmo Nano
The In-Helmet MountReleased May 1, 2026, built for the DJI Osmo Nano, Xtra Atto and Insta360 GO 3S, with zero external protrusion.
  • MotoRadds In-Helmet Mount with Onboard Viewer Kit
The In-Helmet Mount with Onboard Viewer KitReleased later that same month, turning the setup into a complete onboard filming solution, and nobody else is doing this yet.

Read that again: in-helmet mount on May 1st, complete viewer kit before the month was out. That's the pace. That's what "innovating" actually looks like, and it's the part that can't be screenshotted and reordered from a wholesaler.

I'm not just a "chin mount guy" anymore. MotoRadds is becoming the all-mounts and all-accessories brand for riders with cameras. Every angle, every camera, every helmet.

The Bundle Play (Yes, You'll Copy This Too)

Here's the next chapter, and I'm telling you about it before it gets traced.

I've started building genuinely valuable bundles for my customers, pairing mounts with the things riders actually need to protect their gear: screen protectors, lens covers, and ND filters for DJI, Insta360, and GoPro. Not cheap filler. Real add-ons that make a rider's setup better and save them money versus buying individually.

As of today, June 5, 2026, ChinMounts doesn't offer any of that.

Want to put money on how long that lasts? Because I'd bet the screen protectors, the lens covers, and the ND filter bundles show up over there too, right around the usual two-month delay. I'm putting it in writing now so that when it happens, nobody has to "connect the dots." The dots will already be drawn.

So Here's My Gift To You, Matt

I'm handing you the homework this time. The whole playbook, dated and public:

  1. The camera compatibility flow You Are Here
  2. The protective covers and ND filter bundles
  3. The In-Helmet Mount and the Onboard Viewer Kit
  4. The all-mounts catalog: windscreen, selfie-stick, fork/axle, in-helmet

Go ahead. Trace it. You will anyway.

But understand what this document actually is. It's a timestamp. Every time something on this list shows up on your site a couple of months from now, this post is already here, dated June 5, 2026, explaining exactly where it came from. You're not copying in the dark anymore. You're copying in front of the whole industry, on the record.

A Word of Advice, Founder to Founder

If you genuinely want to run a business, not just operate a tracing service, then try this:

Come up with your own products. Your own website layouts. Your own bundling ideas. Stop being so reliant on me to tell you what to do next.

Because here's the thing you should sit with: you can't bury me. You've tried. The fake accounts, the bogus complaints, the copyright claims, all of it documented in last year's post. None of it worked. And even if it somehow did, you'd be left holding the worst possible prize.

Because the day you bury the person you've been copying is the day your business stagnates. No more roadmap to trace. No more "what's MotoRadds doing this quarter?" to reverse-engineer. Just you, alone, staring at a catalog you didn't design, with no idea what comes next.

I'll keep building. I always have. The only real question is whether you ever decide to.

Chris, MotoRadds

The world's first and most trusted helmet chin mount brand, and a whole lot more now.
